Here are some tips I wrote a LONG time ago. I have learned a lot since then, but most of these tips still appy.
1. Use your products regularly.
You might be thinking “duh Jeff!” Everybody knows that, right?
Not exactly. There are a lot of distributors that don`t use their product.
It`s hard for most people to recommend a product they don`t use. Your prospects and your retail customers can tell.
If they think YOU don`t use them, why would THEY want to use them?
I mean, you just want your leads to *join* right? We all want that. But prospects are pretty savvy these days.
They want to know “What`s this all about?” And that includes what is your great product and what`s great about it.
Your products should be on autoship. Your downline`s products should be on autoship. If not, no one makes much of the green stuff.
If you enroll someone that does not start with an auto shipment, they probably never will. You`ll end up with an occasional purchase customer.
And those people are good to have. They even bring in referrals. But don`t expect them to become builders.
Encourage autoshipments.

2. Make a total commitment to your program for at least one year. In the beginning your business may grow slow. Especially if you are new. You will accomplish more in the last 3 months of a year than the first 9 months combined.
Stick with it and think long term. It`s a marathon not a sprint. Of course YOU already know that.
But make sure your new members do too.
Â
3. Sell yourself first, then the products and the marketing plan. This is a people helping people business. Prospects don`t join because of the product. They don`t join because of the compensation plan. They will join because they like and trust you.
That doesn`t mean pretend to be someone your not. Just be yourself. Kind, caring, and a good listener.
Want someone to like you? Let them talk. You listen. They`ll LOVE you.
Â
4. Spend 90% of your business time with distributors, customers and prospects. It` s far more profitable to spend the majority of your time with people already doing business with you than to look for new customers.
Follow up with your retail customers. Let them know you care about their happiness.
Help your distributors build. Be there for them. Keep them motivated and active.
5. Present your products and marketing plan personally to at least one person daily.
Continue to build your business. Do not sit idle. If a steady stream of prospects are not coming to you, go to them.
Call your leads. Share a sample of your product. Something.
Â
6. Let everyone know what business you are in. Advertise. There are several low cost methods of advertising. Newsletters, business cards, flyers, etc. Combine several to keep prospects and customers trickling in.
7. Make “understanding people” more important that product knowledge.
This is a people business. Listen to people, and what their wants and needs are. Learn how you can help them.
People do not want to think they are working to make you money. They want to feel you are helping them with their problems.
Remember, prospects are thinking “What`s in it for me?”.
